Entry Requirements
Complete the following entry requirements to travel to Costa Rica with your pet:
- Obtain a USDA pet certificate from a veterinarian within 10 days of travel and take three copies with you on day of travel.
- Pets must be vaccinated against distemper, hepatitis, Leptospirosis, parvovirus and rabies
- Cats must be vaccinated against feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia and feline leukemia, as well as have a valid rabies vaccination and they must get an internal/external parasite dose when visiting the vet within ten days for USDA to certify and CR to accept them.
- An official rabies vaccination certificate is also required.
- Pets who stay longer than the validity of the U.S. Health Certificate (30 days) will need a valid Costa Rican Health Certificate in order to leave, which can be obtained from a local veterinarian.
- Complete the attached permit before entry.
Quarantine Information
Pets being transported into Costa Rica are not required to be quarantined if they meet all the necessary requirements listed above.
