Entry Requirements
Complete the following entry requirements to travel to Italy with your pet:
- Pets must be microchipped.
- Pets must have received the rabies vaccine more than 21 days before travel for immunity to be established. In order to be considered valid, the vaccination against rabies shall be carried out after the microchipping.
- Travelers from within the EU must be accompanied by an EU Pet Passport.
- Travelers from third countries with low rabies numbers shall be accompanied by an official health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. The health certificate shall attest the conduct of the anti-rabies vaccination and, if appropriate, a new valid vaccination.
- The maximum number of pets (dogs, cats and ferrets) allowed to accompany an owner is five.
Quarantine Information
Pets traveling to Italy do not need to be quarantined if they meet all the necessary requirements listed above.
